Les Guzman

The photography duo of Constance Hansen and Russell Peacock – wife & husband Les Guzman—helped to define the look of their times: iconic album and magazine covers for everyone from Fishbone to En Vogue.

Debbie Harry’s album cover Rockbird, kicked off their career, and by the time they shot Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation, Guzman were off the the races, photographing everyone in their wake. Known for a highly sophisticated photographic style and an affinity for the eccentric, they remember when, back in the day, the subject, the star would show up for the session with family or by themselves.

Throughout the ’90s, Guzman would go on to photograph some of the era’s biggest acts, among them Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, Lenny Kravitz, Luther Vandross, SWV, and Salt-N-Pepa.
