Sheila Rock

Sheila Rock came to the UK from America in 1970 & has a series of successful careers: initially as a primary documenter of the punk era: she felt very early on that something exciting was happening. "There was a different way of thinking and being. It was provocative." She photographed what was around her and these pictures became pivotal in capturing the powerful cultural impact Punk had on British society in the late seventies.

The Face launched her career, but she also worked for German Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Time Magazine, Rolling Stone and many others. A number of her portraits are in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London. She is also a successful commercial photographer, and the author of many photography books featuring works of her own private passions. Sheila lives in New England, travels frequently, and maintains a home in Hawaii.
